Employers admit excluding older workers and those with disabilities

Seven in 10 employers have revealed they're excluding candidates based on age (over 55), mental illness, or disability, according to confronting new research. The findings have been labelled 'disgusting' by advocates, highlighting systemic discrimination in hiring practices that many have long suspected but few have openly acknowledged.

Yesterday we asked: What's the best coffee you've had in Melbourne this week?

“I treated myself to a beautiful flat white on Sunday morning at one of the little places near the Botanic Gardens. Perfect way to start the day with the paper and good people-watching.”

— Margaret, South Yarra

“My local spot in the neighbourhood makes a superb long black. The barista knows everyone by name and always asks about the grandkids. That personal touch makes all the difference.”
